This is a continuation of the post ‘About This Relationship Thing’. If you haven’t read that, I would encourage you to read it then head back here. Thinking about how I wanted to talk about this, I thought it best to narrow it down to metal. That’s much more in my wheelhouse and I want to make sure this gets digested. It’s important. Very. This can easily apply to all areas of one's life, I believe. I have two thoughts I would like to share before we get to metal specifically. Currently, I teach a course on the Morrigan and it is more of an intro to Herself. It is part of my Work as Her priest and I don’t charge for this. It’s really amazing what I learn from teaching, not just this, the other workshops as well.
The first thing I want to bring up is, be open to trying new things. If you don’t change, things won’t change for you. It reminds me of the saying about insanity. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” (the saying seems to have actually originated in one of the twelve-step communities, not Einstein as some believe) I often hear others say, ‘this is the way I normally do this’ or ‘I’ve always done it this way’. My first thought is, ‘And how’s that working out for you?’ I teach things a certain way because I have found that it works, for me at least. Doing my trial and many error exploration. I am not saying this is the only way, just a way that I know that works for me. It may not work for you. There's an easy way to find out….
Second point. Time. You must invest it to have a strong and powerful relationship. There is no substitute. No shortcuts. No work around. I have heard ‘I don’t have time’, ‘I only spend a few minutes a day’, ‘I forget/can’t remember’. You don’t have a relationship, you have a goldfish. It must be a priority for you. You will get out of it what you put into it. If it is important, it’ll get figured out.
On to metal. I wrote about metal magic here, and this is just a start. It’s alive, a part of our world, contains secrets and stories, holds and directs energy. It can be an ally or adversary. Aren’t we talking about relationships though? Yup. Don’t some of your relationships fit with this? And here is where the rubber hits the road. Start. Get your metal item and get to know it. My focus is mainly copper and iron/steel. I know this process works with those and may very well work for others. Depending on your item of choice, you are going to need to (here we go) spend some time with it. Carry it if possible. Hold it, feel it. Think about it. Meditate with it. Listen to it. Journal your findings. Every day. Don’t skip this! I recommend at LEAST a moon cycle. Once you get to know it, it makes it feasible to Work with it. That will be another topic all together. I would like to hear about your findings and feedback if you decide to give this a go. Have you worked with metal before? Please comment at the bottom of the page.
Do me a favor: Before you go, if you liked this post, then please scroll on to the bottom click on that little heart below. Then share this with someone who you think would benefit (there are buttons at the bottom for you to do this easily). Please don’t keep me a secret! I need your help to spread the word. After all, how many people do you know that can say they have their very own personal magical blacksmith??
